Belly fat in your 40s can boost the risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia decades later according to a study released this week in the Journal of Neurology.

“Estrogen dominance is a condition that results from the shift in hormone production that occurs naturally with age.” says Randolph. “This shift begins with women in their 30′s and with men in their 40′s. Our ovaries and testes produce three sex hormones which are estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. In a healthy person’s 20s, the levels of these hormones are in optimal ratio, or equilibrium. With age, production of these hormones starts to decline. The first hormone to drop off in production is progesterone. In fact, in women, progesterone production declines 120 times more rapidly than estrogen production. The result is a hormonal imbalance within the body. The medical term for this condition is ‘estrogen dominance.’”

The diet industry exploits this fact. For our health we should be thin and here is the diet for you to lose weight fast.


        One of the newer ones is the use of aromatherapy. Certain scents are supposed to decrease our appetite. Our sense of smell and our appetite are connected. When we smell something good and we are hungry we will begin to salivate. On the other hand, if something smells adverse we sure do not want to eat it. The way this works is you trick your body by using the scents to make you feel full. Essential oil scents are used such as lavender, orange and peppermint. The idea is you inhale the essential oil before your meal and you will eat less. It sounds less dangerous than most fad diets.


        Meal replacement shake diets have some problems. As human beings we crave a variety of foods. Drinking a shake for every meal or two meals a day can be boring and not satiating. A large percentage of people who start this type of diet drop out. Replacement meals do not teach you how to eat in a healthy way when you are done with the diet.


        The newer diet pills like Hoodia have not been studied enough yet as to its safety. Green Tea is another popular new weight loss tool. The older diet pills contain ephedrine, caffeine, or phenylpropalanomine. These have been knows to cause addiction, high blood pressure, heart arrhythmias and even increase your risk for a stroke.


        There are many ideas out there for losing weight fast. Our society wants everything fast and convenient. It should be no surprise that we want to lose weight fast too.


        Fast weight lost is not good for our bodies or our minds. The weight lost on a fad diet is generally water weight which you will regain rapidly. There are many health risks associated with fad diets including dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, vitamin and mineral deficiencies and even depression. Stay away from losing weight fast diets.


        If you want to lose weight, do so safely. Eat a well balanced meal including all the food groups, and control your portion sizes. Eat small healthy snacks between meals to keep your energy up Exercise at least three times per week, and drink eight to ten glasses of water a day. If you must choose a commercial diet choose it carefully and make sure it is a safe one. Losing weight gradually is better for our bodies and the results are long term.
